How to remove File C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\et... is infected with application Win32/Monitor.ActM
that is ur hosts file many malware app's try to seed themselves in there
to remove it manually
rt clik start
clik explore
expand windows + sign
expand system32 +sign
expand drivers +sign
clik on etc
remove entry
u will have to open it w/ notepad or something similiar
before doing this if u don't have b/up software create a restore point in system restore start%26gt;programs%26gt;accessories%26gt;system tools%26gt;sytem restore
i would also scan my system w/ superantispyware
http://www.superantispyware.com/
or whatever u ahve as long as it is reputable
i use mvps hosts file on my comp
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.ht...
many antispyware apps and some firewalls have options in them to lock the hosts file(highly recommended)
i know spybot has this and a program called winpatrol both r excellent

Reply:If you know where the file that is infected is located, and the message said that it can be safly remove (deleted) then Delete it. If you have an antivirus program installed on your computer it will catch viruses , make sure that your antivirus program is (Up-To- Date) and do a Full System Scan, not a (quick scan) When you do a full system scan your whole computer would be scan (all files, folders, sub-folders, register, etc.) Your anivirus program will catch viruse no matter where they are, but you got to make sure that it is uptodate and do a full scan once a week . Even though All antivirus program are NOT 100% proof, but they do a very good job in protecting out computers.
Reply:if he file CAN deleted .. then delete it .. if NOT .. then u have to reformat ur computer .. thats all ...
Reply:it sounds like a virus, try this free anti virus, i have used it for quite sometime, and im very pleased with it. after you let it full update run a complete scan. and if you really want to make sure, do this.
1. restart your computer
2. press the f8 key multiple times until your taken to a black window with white letters and options.
3. start your computer in safe mode and run another complete scan, reason- safe mode runs your computer on minimal processes so its way easier for an anti virus to find the signature of a virus, esp a new one. dont download avg unless its from grisoft the company of desinged it.
Reply:run antivirus. AVG/Norton recommended. simply run them (install if u don't have) and delete them. deleting them without scanning may/may not delete the virus.
